COURSE OF ACTION FOR SITE IDENTIFICATION
& PROJECT FEASIBILITY

1
Site and resource assessment
  • High level site solar resource assessment.
  • Location/building suitability assessment.
  • Building orientation and capacity installation assessment.
  • Potential grid connection issues, if any.
2
Array considerations
  • Options appraisal on different array configurations or arrangement over the roof (e.g. Mounting if flat roof, clamping and elevated structure if the roof is tin shed and sloppy.)
  • Approximate array sizes.
  • Any shading implications.
  • Wind loading considerations.
  • Array maintenance and cleaning issues.
  • A review of module mounting systems.
3
Performance assessment
  • Simple financial appraisal and payback calculations.
4
System Design
  • Preparing a full design of the solar PV system that includes electrical diagrams, module mounting system details etc.
  • Preparing a full design of the solar PV system that includes structural diagram and 3D view of the Solar PV.
  • Recommending any modifications in the structural aspect of the building required for a sturdy structure.
5
Financial Appraisal
  • Full financial appraisal with costs obtained from potential suppliers (capital cost estimates and operation & maintenance) and revenue clearly noting method of estimation, details of relevant assumptions and uncertainty of estimates.
  • Scenario modelling of potential increase in costs or reductions in revenue.
  • Consideration of statutory fees costs in the final cost estimation of the Solar PV.
6
Project Management
  • Approximate project initiation date and installation duration, highlighting any site access requirements that the owner needs to be aware of.
  • Risk Assessment of developing a solar PV scheme at the site, and how these risks are best mitigated going forward.
7
Execution and commissioning
8
Scheduling and interfacing of all activities for integration of all the phases of the project.
9
Conceptualisation, execution and commissioning of projects way ahead of scheduled time.
10
Monitoring of all critical activities of the project and quality assessment.
11
Operations and Maintenance
  • Preventive maintenance
  • Corrective maintenance
  • Condition based monitoring
